I recently presented our collaborative research project with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the International Conference on Nuclear Security (ICONS) 2024 held at IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria from 20-24 May 2024. Our project focuses on developing a centralized alarm assessment system with a central alarm station (CAS) integrated personal radiation detector network. This innovative technology holds great promise for enhancing detection and response capabilities for nuclear and other radioactive materials out of regulatory control.
The conference provided a valuable platform to share our research findings and engage in stimulating discussions with leading experts in the field. The potential for further collaborative research and development (R&D) efforts emerged as a key theme throughout the event. I am confident that by working together, the international scientific community can make a significant contribution to global nuclear security.
